Simonside & Rekendyke
Artist in Residence
More info coming soon…
This project is about giving local people the chance to try out creative activities in a friendly, supportive way — no previous experience needed.
We are working with professional artist Louie Ingham to encourage people to get involved in the arts, build confidence and develop new skills. Activities will be relaxed, welcoming and designed to help people feel comfortable having a go and discovering their creativity.
The creative activities are shaped together with the community. Local residents help decide what happens, making sure the project reflects the interests, needs and ideas of people living in the Simonside and Rekendyke ward. This gives everyone the chance to experiment, try new things and explore what works best for their community.
By bringing high-quality creative activity into the neighbourhood, the project makes it easier for people to take part close to home and enjoy new experiences in familiar spaces.
Community decision-making panels are an important part of the project. These panels ensure local voices, stories and heritage are included in the creative work, helping to create something meaningful that lasts beyond the project itself.
At its heart, this is a community-led project. Local people will work alongside an artist to create creative work they can be proud of, leaving a lasting legacy shaped by the people who live there.
If you want it even more informal, shorter, or written in a “come and join us” style, just say.
