Open call for exhibition

The Cultural Spring and Thompson Park Community Association are inviting local artists, makers, crafters, hobbyists and creative residents to take part in Stitching Sunderland’s Story, a community exhibition celebrating the creativity, stories and talents of Sunderland people.

Over the past 10 weeks, participants have taken part in a community quilting project through the Made Together programme, exploring Sunderland’s rich heritage and community through textiles and developing a large-scale collaborative quilt inspired by local history, personal memories and shared experiences. The sessions were led by artist Harriett Mee.

As the project moves towards completion, we are creating an opportunity for the wider community to exhibit alongside this work.

The initiative reflects a commitment to inclusive creativity and community participation. Whether participants are professional artists, enthusiastic amateurs, hobby makers, or individuals who simply enjoy creating, all are encouraged to apply.
