Generous grant of £19,900 awarded

We’re delighted to announce we have been awarded almost £20,000 to help develop our popular community-based creative workshop programme.

A generous grant of £19,900 has come from the National Lottery Community Fund, which aims to fund community activities which help to create ‘healthier, happier lives.’

The grant will support long term sustainability of our workshop activity by developing creative enterprise opportunities. The project will also be offering go and see visits relevant to the enterprise element of the project and offering high quality at-home activities for people not able to leave their homes to engage in the project.

Emma Horsman, our Project Director, explained: “We want to support our programme through creative enterprise, which means providing practical help and advice such as helping groups to become legal entities or providing them with support and guidance in sourcing funding.

“We also want to help people develop their skills, make connections – and have some fun!”

“We’re very grateful to the National Lottery and our project was made possible thanks to #NationalLottery players.”

Emma added that through the workshop programme, participants also learn new skills and, in some cases, had gone on to sell their work.

She added: “The first stage of the project is in development and we’re looking to launch sessions in the Simonside area of South Tyneside soon and are planning a Go and See visit to the Festival of Thrift in late September.
